Merrily Mundane..

I am happy to say that I have taken first place in *RedClub 's Oriental Contest with the submission of:

'Her Hollowing'

There were two other winners,

Second Place: 'Oriental'

Third Place: 'Curler'

I applaud all the lovely pieces that were entered :) I also took first place with the previous contest themed 'Enchanted' You can see my entry here: Bounty for the Mayan Mother
I love *RedClub 's contest themes and I can't wait until they announce the new one. I have a slight addiction to contests :D

I have also written a poem for the first time in months. It is also the first poem or art directly related to Panic Disorders, which I am finally starting to be a little more open about. For a long time i tried to keep that part of me to myself, but like any problem that effects behavior or activity..it became extremely difficult to hide. I have come to see that I do not need to 'spare' others from this, and it is not all there is to me, but that I can share with others this thing that at times..seems to plague my every thought.

I have found that sharing, for me, is the best therapy I could have done for myself. I have been much more open to friends and family, and with much encouragement from them...I have begun to express it through my artistic outlets. For a very very long time, I ran from the idea of facing it down; ran from the very thought of having to confront the fact that I have a problem at all. Still, I cannot embrace it, I cannot befriend and accept it...but I am able to go on.

My features are based on this. Panic, strife, moving on through a bloody battlefield despite the fear and pain that trails behind. These art works are based on being singled out, cast out, and fighting your way back in. :)
